A barrel sauna is a rounded cabin that heats quickly and suits an outdoor spot. The curved walls let hot air circle inside, so warmth reaches your feet and shoulders evenly. Every model here uses 38mm solid spruce, an 8mm tempered glass door and a covered front porch for cooling down between rounds.

Why the barrel shape heats fast

The rounded cross-section does real work. Hot air rises, rolls along the curved roof and settles back down. That circulation warms the cabin from the floor to head height. A smaller barrel reaches temperature in 30 to 45 minutes. The largest takes 45 to 60 minutes. The curve also sheds rain, and it tucks into corners a square cabin cannot reach.

Placing your sauna

Set the sauna on a firm, level base. Slabs, concrete or decking all work well. No plumbing is needed. Leave room at the front for the porch bench and a clear path to the door. The heater takes a fixed-wire connection, so plan for a power supply nearby.

Choosing a size

Match the barrel to how many will sit at once. The 1-2 person model fits a couple, or one person lying flat. The 3-4 person barrel seats three in comfort. The 5-6 person cabin runs 2400mm deep for a group. Benches grow with each size, from 860mm up to 1760mm long.

Electric or Harvia heater

Every barrel ships with a standard electric heater matched to the cabin: 4.5kW or 6kW. It heats the stones and holds a steady temperature. You can upgrade to a Harvia heater from the dropdown on each product. Harvia is a Finnish brand with a long track record. Both types need wiring by a qualified electrician.

Common questions

How long does a barrel sauna take to heat up?

Around 30 to 60 minutes, depending on size. The 4.5kW barrel warms in 30 to 45 minutes. The largest cabin takes up to an hour.

Do I need an electrician?

Yes, for the heater wiring. A qualified electrician fits the fixed-wire connection under Part P. No plumbing is needed.

What base does it need?

A firm, level base. Slabs, concrete or decking all work. Leave a clear path to the door and space for the porch bench.

Is the timber treated for outdoor use?

The spruce arrives untreated. Many owners brush on Danish oil, which deepens the grain and helps protect the wood outdoors.

Every barrel sauna ships with free UK delivery and a 30-day returns window. Each cabin carries a two-year warranty with UK-based support. Note that the heater needs a qualified electrician for the fixed wiring.
